1. Tell us a little about this main character. Is he fictional or a historic person?
Admittedly he is not the main character but one of many. He is fictional although his personality and manners were heavily influenced by how my aunt described my grandfather, whom I never met.
Forced deportation of Slovak Jews

2. When and where is the story set?
The story begins in 1933 and ends in the late 1940s. The book is set in Czechoslovakia, Czecho-Slovakia, Slovakia, the German Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and the defeated Germany. 3. What should we know about him?

He is a widowed Jewish weaver whose main interests are neither religion nor politics, but to bring up his children and find a little peace for himself in Bratislava.
